Dr Praveen Kumar

Dr Kumar trained on the Cambridgeshire & Peterborough scheme and has spent more than a decade as a consultant across the NHS and independent practice, including Clinical Director and Medical Director roles.
He has worked in — and helped establish — NHS adult ADHD services in Cambridge, Peterborough and West Norfolk, and is formally trained in ADOS-2 and ADI-R for autism assessment.
He founded Plexus after watching too many people wait years for an assessment that takes an afternoon to do well.

No. You can refer yourself directly - just book an appointment. If you would like your GP involved from the outset you are welcome to tell them, but nothing is held up waiting for a referral letter.

We aim to offer a first appointment within one week of receiving your completed pre-assessment questionnaires. Returning those promptly is the single biggest thing you can do to be seen sooner.
Yes - we assess children, young people and adults. For a child, much of the assessment draws on parents or carers and, where possible, on school, because a child cannot give their own developmental history. Fees for under-18s are listed separately. See fees
Your assessment
All appointments are delivered online by secure video, wherever you are in the UK. For most people this is an advantage: no travel, no waiting room, and appointments that fit around work.
Your completed questionnaires, which we send as soon as you book. For ADHD and autism it also helps to have input from someone who knew you as a child - a parent or older sibling - or old school reports. If none of that is available, tell us; we assess plenty of people who cannot, and work with what exists.
Then we will tell you honestly, explain what we think is going on instead, and recommend the right support for it. Many people leave with a clearer explanation than they arrived with - that is a good outcome, not a wasted appointment.
After diagnosis
Often, yes. Where an ADHD diagnosis is made and medication is clinically appropriate, it can begin on the day of your assessment. Some people need checks first - a heart history, for example - and your consultant will tell you if that applies to you.
Our assessments follow national standards and produce a comprehensive report, which is what GPs need in order to consider a shared-care agreement. Shared care remains at each practice’s discretion - it is not automatic anywhere, NHS or private - but we support that conversation and provide the documentation for it.
Contact whoever prescribes it - us, or your GP if you are under shared care - rather than switching between versions yourself, as long-acting versions of the same medicine are not always interchangeable. What to do

All our fees are published, including what is and is not included. There are no consultation charges hidden behind an enquiry form, and the written report is part of the assessment fee. See fees
Yes. What you tell us is held securely in your clinical record and seen only by the people involved in your care. We send your report to your GP so your care is joined up, and would share without your agreement only where someone is at serious risk or the law requires it.
